On January 11, Yan Jiye, Deputy Party Secretary and President of the Academy, met with Professor Lam Hon-ming from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and his delegation. The two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on agricultural biobreeding innovation, industry-academia-research collaboration, and joint cultivation of young scientific talent, reaching multiple cooperative consensuses.

Yan Jiye extended a warm welcome to Professor Lam and his delegation. He highlighted that Hong Kong, as a global innovation hub, offers valuable experience in integrating research resources and establishing international collaboration networks—experience highly relevant to the Academy’s internationalization efforts. He noted that CUHK and Professor Lam’s research team possess profound expertise in life sciences and agricultural biotechnology, aligning closely with the Academy’s development goals. With an existing solid foundation for cooperation, Yan expressed hope to deepen practical collaboration by leveraging Hong Kong’s strengths as an international platform. This would expand the Academy’s global partnerships, enhance its international influence, and jointly advance high-quality agricultural development in China.

Professor Lam spoke highly of the Academy’s remarkable achievements in agricultural research. He acknowledged the Academy’s unique advantages in bridging research with industry and promoting technology application. Lam proposed that both parties swiftly define collaboration priorities in key areas, gradually advance joint innovation in cutting-edge technologies, facilitate成果转化 (achievement translation), and co-apply for international projects. By complementing each other’s strengths, he emphasized, the partnership would accelerate agricultural scientific progress and foster global development.

During the visit, Professor Lam and his delegation toured the Academy’s exhibition hall and the Institute of Biotechnology. Officials from the International Cooperation Department and the Institute of Biotechnology participated in related activities.
