On January 12, Yan Jiye, Deputy Party Secretary and President of the Academy, met with Feng Dongxin, Head of the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre of Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture, and her delegation. The two sides held in-depth discussions on nuclear technology innovation, international research collaboration, and joint talent development.

Yan Jiye extended a warm welcome to the delegation and highlighted the Academy’s key achievements and long-term strategies in sci-tech innovation and industry-academia-research integration. He emphasized that the Academy consistently leverages its core competencies and technological strengths to develop new crop varieties and technologies aligned with industrial needs. Moving forward, the Academy will intensify efforts to build high-level international cooperation platforms and cultivate a globally competitive scientific workforce. Yan expressed eagerness to deepen practical collaboration with the Joint Centre in nuclear technology innovation and shared platform development to jointly promote industry advancement.

Feng Dongxin highly commended the Academy’s outstanding accomplishments in agricultural science and comprehensively introduced the Joint Centre’s research initiatives and practical outcomes across key areas of the agricultural value chain, including crop breeding using nuclear technology, food irradiation preservation, and agricultural environmental monitoring. She noted the strong alignment in development philosophies and the solid foundation for cooperation, expressing hope to accelerate collaboration and translate outcomes into tangible results. Feng proposed focused efforts on joint technological breakthroughs and co-applications for international projects to achieve mutual benefits.

During the visit, the delegation toured the Academy’s exhibition hall and the Institute of Quality Standards. Officials from the Academy’s International Cooperation Department and the Institute of Quality Standards accompanied the tour and engaged in on-site exchanges.
